Default Worsening Symptoms From Injury At Work

I fell at work on the April 29th and hurt my wrist. I went to a place called workmed they toke a x ray of my wrist and my arm they said it was a wrist sprain and put me in a brace on my wrist. But later on in the night it got worse it started to hurt more so i went to the local er they retake xrays of the area. I said i may have fractured scaphoid in my hand. They put me into a brace that held the wrist and the trumb in place. But when i went back the to workmed clinc they stuck with therre diag of the problem. but as time goes on. here it is 17 of may. My wrist is ok. but i still having pain in my thrmb they havn't did a follow up xray. Do you think i sould see my own doctor or ask the insureand to send to a hand doctor ????

    Clayton:

You need to immediate file a WC claim if you hadn't already. Get copies of all medical reports and secure a good WC attorney. You have a good fight ahead b/c certain procedures weren't followed according to you've written.

File the WC claim! The same thing happened to me. I fell and did not know I had actually hurt myself until 6 months later although I worked in pain for 6 months. I just never wanted to believe I could have hurt myself that way and I needed my job. Just believe me, make them file the claim. Your injury may not turn out to be much but you have to protect yourself because your company sure won't. I am now 3 cervical surgeries and going on my 4th lumbar surgery at several different levels whenever WC decides to approve it. Some have been repeat levels because microdisectomy were performed and later I ended up with fusions. Take my advice, protect yourself. Good Luck and Take Care!

    Hello,
When I intially injured my knee on the job, it was my employers responsibility to to render further medical services, but when I told my saftey guru I wanted an MRI of my knee he told me NOT to use my own insurance carrier to pay for it. Why, because workmed people make the diagonosis. They will send you to their servicer for that MRI, because they will base their decesion or diagnosis on that MRI to validate a claim.....to your employer. If your personal insurance carrier (aetna, cigna) performes an MRI for you then finds out you have a workcomp claim they will refuse to pay for it...YOU will have to pay the bill.
Go back to workmed and have them schedule you an MRI.
Your situation sounds similar to mine.
Make workmed do every thing possible for you before they release you to your own general practictioner and they try to close the case on you. DON"T LET THEM SCREW YOU.

Supertramp, I see you are new to the forum, welcome. The thread you responded to is OVER 3 years old. Let's hope for the sake of the OP that his/her situation has been resolved long before by now. Of course it is WC so there is not telling they do tend to drag their feet ......

    Take care and be well.
