I worked for this company for 2 years, injured my back (lumbar buldge) and was placed on light duty. Did light duty for 3 weeks. Company sells out and new company takes over 1st of the year. Worked 4 days with new company and they place me on medical leave (as they called it). Stating i was a liability and could only return to work for them when i get a full medical release without restrictions. Then i would have to fill out a new application and they would consider rehiring me. They then claim that i am still employeed by old company and will have to take up matters with them about workers comp. The old company has since payed me 75% of my pay, and i have no problems with them at this time. Now the new company did not give me any medical leave paperwork to fill out, and had asked several co-workers if they wanted my job. I have since been off for over 1 month, just received a steriod injection and may need another. So i dont know when i will ever be released or if i will still have a job, because nothing was ever given in writting. Is this legal to place someone on medical leave for an injury(from old company) after hiring them to work for you? What are my options?
