any opinion other then the first is a "second" opinion.

What are you looking for a third opinion on?
Your Dr recommends treatment plan, when the carrier disputes that...they are entitled to an opinion by a Dr of thier choice.
Doesn't matter who the Dr is...your treating physician...or the IC's IME Dr...all Dr's are paid for by the carrier.
You are of course entitled to an opinion by a Dr of your choice, at your own expense to support your claim. The carrie is not required to pay for "doctor shopping".
I live in Indiana and have had 13 2nd opions all at the request of i/c most came out worse but to get to the point I don't think there is any limit of 2nd opions my lawyers act like its normal and I found no law that says different atleast in my state
