What Happens After an Award

My workers compensation claim was made in the State of: California.....once the judge awards body parts, what happens next. I go see a doctor and then what....do i get paid the dissability money from the insurance company or what? My attorney says she has to see if there is a mpn in my area. Then there has to be more information developed reguarding my shoulder which is the main issue here. I was advised to get surgery under the care of my own insurance but I don't think that's ok, then again I am so confused...confused

it depends on what the court order states.
are you trying to say there was a hearing and an award issued from the comp court that found the injury compensible but only awarded treatment and not disability?
without knowing what precisely the award stated it's difficult to predict.
have you had any benefits?
have you been off work for the injury?
what was denied by the carrier/employer?
is there an appeal?

Don't know who told you that... but they are wrong. IF...If you contact your own health ins carrier, and they say go ahead...GET IT IN WRITING.
Your ins, GHP/Group Health Plan expressly exempts benefits for a work related injury.
Who every told you to use your GHP is not the person who makes that decision for coverage.
