This is a copy of the e-mail I received from one of the Kansas Senators working on senate bill 258.

This e-mail gives all the more reason why all injured workers of Kansas need to contact their state legislators.

If you need help with locatiing your legislatior, drop me a pm or e-mail.

Lynn

This is the e-mail
....................................

DearXXX
Thank you for contacting my office to share your concerns about SB 258, which would adjust the cap on worker’s compensation benefits. We are currently hearing this bill in the Senate Commerce Committee.

This particular bill is a difficult one for all of the members of the Commerce Committee.
Everyone wants to ensure that our working citizens who are injured are treated with the utmost in respect and fairness. However, there are many concerns with raising caps above the present limits during this time of economic downturn. This leaves many legislators feeling uneasy about raising present limits.

After two days of testimony from both proponents and opponents, Chairman Wysong assigned a sub-committee to study the issue further. I have been assigned to that sub-committee which is meeting next week for deliberation.

I received this e-mail from House Rep Delia-Garcia

Thank you for contacting my office. I am always pleased to hear from my constituents about their concerns and suggestions to make our community and state a better place to live.

If you did not do so, please leave your full name and address so I have the information for my records.

As you can imagine, my office receives literally thousands of e-mails a week. Due to the large volume of messages received, I cannot answer them individually.

I want to assure you that I have received and read your message and will take it into consideration as we debate and deliberate the important issues that come before the KS House of Representatives.

If this is an issue that you would like to discuss with me in person, please do not hesitate to call me in my Topeka office at (785) 296-6838. Also, if you would like to be on my mailing list to receive my State House Report, please let me know your mailing address and I will be sure you get it.

Thank you, again, for taking your time to inform me about your concern. Being your Representative and voice in Topeka is a great honor and I am proud to serve on your behalf.

I received an e-mail today from Rep Bob Grant, he wrote that he is in favor of an increase in benifits for injured workers of Kansas and that it has been to long since they were given any type of raise.

Although..........

Members of the Kansas Senate have responded with statements such as,
"With the state of the Kansas economy business can not afford any more burden"

.................
If you are a Kansas injured worker and you are happy with the cash benefits you receive, top money in Kansas is $125,000 then there is no need to contact members of the Kansas Senate of House of Representatives.
(remember injured workers in our state have not seen an increase since the 1980's)

The names & direction on how to contact state legislators are posted on this thread if you wish to contact them.
