Default I Am at the End

I am going for my BRC today and have no idea what figure my atty is going to ask for. I'm a nervous wreck but I am so glad it's nearly over. Wish me well and I will let you know how it turns out.

I, too, wish you well! I hope you get the most positive outcome possible after all you have been through.

Thank you all for the good wishes. Just remember the saying that "noone gets rich off workman's comp". Well that is so true. My settlement was so small I could have just stayed home and saved the gas it took to get there. I guess what I am trying to say is for all of you who think that you can pay off all your bills and cruise the Mediteranian, think again. I'm sorry to dash your hopes, but that is the way it turned out for me. Maybe your case will have a better result. Life goes on.

Unhappy Re: I Am at the End

No one who is on comp want's to be on comp. Yes, at first to have a few extra days off may be okay but with the associated pain, it isn't worth it! Those who have had the minor sprain or those who try to cheat the system don't realize that there are real persons out there that are seriously affected by this system. Who's to blame for this mess? When I see attorneys not making big $$ representing comp clients I know its the insurance agencies who are reaping in the $$ big time, try overhauling this Mr. President, then maybe decent people deserving quality care and compassion could live a decent life after being injured at work. Insurance companies will spend big on ducks and blimps but deny the most medically necessary items; why is this?

"for all of you who think that you can pay off all your bills and cruise the Mediteranian, think again."

I found this statement incredibly offensive to everyone here. I'm not assuming you meant it to be, only that as written it is distastefully put.

Did you hear some IW say that? Did you think it yourself? Because, only someone who's kidding around or empty headed would.

This is part of the reason that the WC system IS so sickening. Someone whose physical health is permanently impacted, ( for life, iow ), and now facing having to file disability is going through Hell financially, emotionally, and, as mentioned, in their health. The IC's play violins while this happens and toss a couple of quarters at you when all is said and done. But for the IW, in many ways it is never 'done'.

I can't believe ANYONE would or has gone through this life-altering event with the ridiculous belief there's any kind of 'payoff' waiting for them. Maybe they would think that BEFORE hand, but not during and certainly not after. Anyone who would, probably deserves to be disappointed. And no, that's not aimed at you specifically. It's just that IW's everywhere can tell you that they not only have to go through all this, they also have to deal with the raised eyebrows or wink-wink looks from friends or associates when they say they are on WC. As if it's some sort of 'holiday'.

Yeah. Right. [eternal eye roll]

PLEASE!!!! Accept my apology, the last thing I wanted to do is offend any of you. MY point I was trying to make is that to have gone through crap and pain and other suffering there just should be more monetary compensation than 3600.00. I feel like I have been screwed by the system and all I did was try to do my job on the night I got hurt. I am no troll. Believe it's not all about the money, I also would love to have my foot back the way it used to be, without a limp, I just know that there are some people who are making big plans for their settlement and it is not going to happen. Once again, please accept my apology, I truly am sorry for the offense. Hadit

Dear Hadit,

This is a forum for injured workers. You are not required to become a professional author to participate and share your experiences. When I read your post I didn’t think you meant it in a bad way. You are a wonderful person who has been through so very much. I’m sorry you didn’t receive enough compensation to help ease the burden that your injury has caused to your finances.

I did not take the post as a put down either but rather as warning for those few who do have high hopes.

Some folks in here need to think before they speak!
I speak in a joking matter alot to keep my mind in a neutral stance. It keeps me from holding an I/C executive hostage! ; ) see what I mean??

Calm down folks we are all in this together.

I got a chuckle out of her comment.
