Exclamation Bushwacking FMLA

The Bush Admin. in trying to change the FMLA with a few new proposals being considered by the Labor Department. It would require workers to tell their employer in advance of taking non emergency leave, instead 2 days after the employee left. They would have to undergo fitness for duty eval. if they took intermittent leave for medical reasons and wanted to return to physically demanding jobs. To prove you have a serious illness you would have to see a health care professional at least 2X a month, also the employer will have the RIGHT to contact your health care providers who authorize leave. There are other things in the bill but the reporter did not go into it. The author was Nancy Trejos from the Washington Post. We all need to write our congress or the department of labor to put a stop to this. This article appeared in the York Daily Record on May 6, 2008.
