Default Maine Injured Workers Must Unite

I have just been through a horrible workers comp litigation and from what I've been researching my unjust outcome is not uncommon. I've read e-mails from people who basically call the Workers' compensation system a "legal racket." I'm wondering if others share this opinion and if so, what can be done about it? How many people have to be treated badly by a system that is suppose to protect injured employee's when in fact it seems the system protects shoddy, unethical, unscrupulous employers?

Why would you expect Susan Collins to be able to do anything for you? Isn't she a federal elected official? If so, she has absolutely nothing to do with work comp in your state. The people who control work comp are your state legislators and your governor. And if they are Republicans you will get bad work comp laws that favor insurance companies instead of workers. Just look around the country--it has happened in KS, OK, NC, TX, FLA, and some other states.
The North Carolina Court of Appeals has held that "In contested Workers' Compensation cases today, access to competent legal counsel is a virtual necessity." Church v. Baxter Travenol Labs, Inc., and American Motorists Insurance Company, 104 N.C. App. 411, 416 (1991).
