    Exclamation IC Case Mgr. LIES

Three weeks ago, my very personable, charming NCM called to tell me that my request for a 2nd opinion had been approved! She told me the date and time (both wrong) and who the doctor is (she got that one right). Well, I had a lingering doubt in my mind about the information she relayed to me, so I called the doctor's office to confirm...... had I kept the appointment the NCM made for me, I would have been 5 days late for the appointment. Just another tactic the IC's use to mess around with your claim and your sanity.
Other than money, I don't understand what perverse joy these people get by messing with IW claims and just delaying the inevitable!

After calling the doctor's office and talking to the appointment secretary, she told me it was good that I had called her......the date my wonderful NCM had told me was actually a Saturday, and the doc's office is closed on Saturdays.

Bottom line is; don't take what your NCM tells you as gospel. Confirm your appointments etc., YOURSELF!

I'm learning so much from this forum. It has been a God-send. Thanks to all who contribute such valuable information!

Look the best advice I or anyone can give you right now is not to trust the NCM at all she is not on your side at all.Her jobe is to try to mess you up anyway at all a matter of fact it would behoove you not to talk to her at all if at all possable. You don't have to and deffenatly don't let her in when the Dr. examines you(that is entirely up to you). And don't belive the Dr. works for you either because the news flash is that he doesn't.He works for them(IC,employer, ect.)and in most casses she/he will do exactly what they tell him/her to do.And that includes compramising your health to do it.There are some exceptions all I'm saying is be verry careful.

How does one know if the Doc is in the back pocket of the IC? I've Googled the doc and have found nothing in his history of WC claims etc. My attorney says he's a good doc and not to worry about him being WC-friendly. Again, we are ALL at the mercy of the system. I can only hope to receive fair treatment and a fair evalution when I heal up.
    Thanks for the advice.

It makes me wonder with the NCM trying to keep you away from the office. But at the same time, if he is still on their list, he must be going by their rules. If he is costing the IC money, then they would drop him. So he must be writing and following their orders. I would worry if he was WC friendly. What he writes can help or make it hard on you. But just make sure to take a witness with you when you go and document the ailments that you tell the doctor. He most likely will not record half of what you tell him. Then you will be accused of making up new symptoms later when the problem still exists when you leave his office. This is how they make it look like you are riding the system out as long as you can. When they go back and look at the doctor's notes, he hasn't wrote the first thing about how your (e.g.) elbow pops out of it's socket when you use your arm, and now all of a sudden it is starting to happen. A new symptom!!!!!! He's doctor shopping!!!! So cover your butt.
Don't get comfortable with anyone that is attached to your IC. Doctors, and everyone else.

The NCM is supposed to be a neutral in the process. Exactly HOW that is to be accomplished when the IC is paying the bills and appointing them of their own choosing is beyond me.

"Trust, but verify," is probably always a good way to be.

I saw the specialist on Tues. of this week. Did his examination, asked questions etc. Wants me to have another MRI / Arthography. Of course it will have to be approved by WC, he said. I figured I was in for another 2 months of waiting for approval......was called by the MRI people just yesterday! Appointment is only 2 weeks away. I must say I'm pleasantly surprised at the quick set-up.

I informed my attorney of the date of the MRI, because my NCM must have dyslexia pertaining to calendars. From here on out, I'm double-checking everything the NCM tells me. It's just too sad that all they truly care about is money, and not the IW's health.

Thanks to all. I'll keep the forum posted on my case progress.

I was told by a nurse that the quicker the NCM gets an IW off of WC, it increases their bonus. But I am sure the IC phrases as, "The quicker you get the injured patient rehabilitated, and back to work."
