no but if givin a choice I would perfer the MRI over a Mylogram anyday......

I had a mylo done and then the same day they did a CT scan.... Ouch I hurt they draw a bullseye on your spine and inject dye or something into it while you are on a table.. then this table moves (tilts) so the dye will travel through your spinal canal while they are taking x-rays..... I depends on which part of your spine they need to see, mine was the cervical so they inject very low by the base of the lumbar and then the dye has to travel all the way to the neck... I was put in a very uncomfortable position.... I had to stay in the hospital after for 4 hours to make sure there was so reaction to the dye....

It is also much cheaper to have a MRI and also easier to get approved....

If you are not caustraphobic ask for a closed MRI they are clearer... No pain involved unless contrast and that is only minimal.....

Why are you getting rated if you arent better? Have you had surgery? Are you a canidate for surgery if you havent had any yet to try and resolve so of the problems you have now?

Usually the Orthos and neuro's want the Mylogram prior to surgery I thought.. at least thats what mine did.. I had many MRI's then they asked for the Mylo then I had 2 more MRI's before surgery....

Dont worry the MRI wont hurt.... I promise

you shouldnt jump to any conclusions about your doctor rating you.

Is this your first MRI? And what type of doctor is he/she? What type of studies or tests have been performed on you since you injury that has lead you doctor to opinion that you need an MRI or a Mylogram? These are both very expensive tests and I dont believe that anyone would pay for them to be performed only for a rating....

So in my opinion your doctor is looking for the reason why you are not getting better.

It is understandable why you would get tried of this believe me I am very frustrated with the whole thing. Everytime i think maybe it is getting better something else comes up. My only hope is that if not me maybe someone else will learn from my experiences.

I have no choice but to keep going and fighting, I have everything to gain mainly MYSELF

    that was past mri's!!!

There has to be a reason why he would of requested a new one. how long has it been since your last one? have your symptons changed or progressed?

What type of doctor is it that you are seeing? Is it a ortho or neurosurgoen?

This goes to show you how different things are handled in every case. Ex. it took me 6 months after my injury to see my first neurosurgeon. I did however have an MRI at around 3months in. That neuro. dismissed me saying try conservative treatment longer then come back. Sent consult notes to treating doc and continued with conservative treatment (pain constantly 10 plus). PTP refered again to ortho surgeon because he wasnt happy with what neuro said same response... So it wasnt I shopping for a surgeon it was actually mt PTP doing this. Continued on this path of conservative treatment with radicularopathy and herniations... Luckily I had a doctor who wouldnt give up... Sent me to pain Management program which that Doctor was the same... Referred me to neurosurgeon..

What are these doctors seeing that the surgeons arent? So I asked my PTP and he told me the problem he felt was with my age and the type of surgery I would need to try and correct the damage my chances arent very good... Also as time goes by things get more difficult and precentages go down which is what I had found out in speaking to the surgeons.. I have now been almost 4 years out since injury and 1 year since surgery.

Now in your situation you seem to of named a neurosurgeon as your PTP... Which even after my surgery or before I never changed to him... I have a PTP who oversees everything and refers me out to different specialists. Is this the case for you? If so what does your PTP think?

As far as a new MRI I know Neurosurgeons don't like to see you unless you have a MRI less than 6 months old. I know because I go back to see my surgeon in less than 2 weeks and had to wait for approval for a new MRI which I did get.
