Default Blood Pressure, Pain and Meds

My workers compensation claim was made in the State of: Kansas

I had carpal tunnel surgery today, previous to the surgery I went off all meds.
This morning when my blood pressure was taken it was 169/89, I was having muscle spasms of the neck & shoulders, had a headache, and was naseous.
The norm BP for me is 110/70.
I do not like taking any meds, a personal issue.
I try and get by with an over the counter pain patch, and tens unit.

I have noticed when the pain is high so is the BP.

Am I doing more harm to the body by not taking the meds?

Probably. High blood pressure is not good in any scenario. Though post op today could be a good reason for this...

Pain is cause for elevated BP... though probably not as high as you are experiencing.

As you are concerned enough to ask this on a message board, it is something that is obvously bothering you. CALL your doctor...

bvia thank you for answering my post.

yes, the high bp is something that is bothering.
the high bp of 169/89 was before surgery today, after surgery it was 120/70.

i've noticed when having nerve pain the bp being high 130/90 for example.

i have a low tolerance for medications so i try not to take them.

i do worry about the high bp and do feel it is high due to the pain i experience.

sorry for not using caps, tough to do with having the carpal tunnel surgery this morning.

Mine too was a AA. I was standing in the back of a big box truck and parked when it was T-Boned. The AA was 10-31-07.They tried P/T before surguy but didn't help enough,so I went ahead with fussion. I did have more than just C6-7 problems but that's all they did. It did help some. If you get to the point of you have nothing to loose why not go with it.

Before you go for it, check out what could happen if all doesn't go well. Some surgeons don't like to operate if it's 4 or more discs. Talk to your surgeon about all the possibility's involved first, and trust me not every operation goes well, especially when they are working on your spine, lots of things can happen.

Don't mean to scare you but that happened to me, but was my lumbar, on some of the negatives they say 1 in a million, well I was a 1. I also have cervical stenosis over 4 vertabrae's and the new surgeon I have won't touch it, most importantly I won't let anyone touch my spine again.

So please read up on it 1st and really think of all the possibilties .

The doctor says surgery may be in my future.

I see my primary doctor next week, will see what he has to say about the blood pressure.

According to state law I have to settle with the other insurance company by December.
