    Depends... has your claim settled...?

    Otherwise...
§97-25.1. Limitation of duration of medical compensation.

The right to medical compensation shall terminate two years after the employer's last payment of medical or indemnity compensation unless, prior to the expiration of this period, either: (i) the employee files with the Commission an application for additional medical compensation which is thereafter approved by the Commission, or (ii) the Commission on its own motion orders additional medical compensation. If the Commission determines that there is a substantial risk of the necessity of future medical compensation, the Commission shall provide by order for payment of future necessary medical compensation. (1993 (Reg. Sess., 1994), c. 679, s. 2.5.)

I have not yet setteled and have been on WC for only a year. But if my Dr. said I can not go back to him for refills of my meds. Where do I go? I will run out shortly and I need to know where to go and what to do to get more refills.

if you were seeing a specialist for your injury and there is nothing else he can do for you he will let you go back to family doc or were ever. just because he said he wont be seeing you anymore does'nt mean thats it ! go to family doc or find a doc that will take on your needs. if your talking about opiate meds they won't just cut you off, these meds can be powerful and it can take months to be weened off properly.

Ok... then tell us why the doctor is refusing to continue to treat you...?

Have you contacted the CA about this... If this doctor says you have reached MMI to the injury, but you continue to need treatment for your 'pain', then you should be referred to an Pain Managememt Doctor/facility. Being MMI doesn't mean you aren't entitled to more treatment, just that your condition is not expected to change better/worse in the next 12 months...

Contact the CA regarding a change in physican if necessary.

I don’t know if my situation will help you or not but my mean doctor said “Case closed” when I reached MMI.

My case nurse told me I would have to get my family doctor to write future prescriptions.

This proved to not be true because my pharmacist faxed the mean doctor and he responded by writing the necessary prescriptions.

He did change one from hydrocodone to tramadol. To me this was no big deal because the hydrocodone is a narcotic that I really want to get away from anyway. Hope this helps.

Never rely on legal advice from a doctor, except for "get a lawyer." That is about the only time an MD gets the legal advice correct.

Ask the doc to refer you to a pain management doc if he does not want to write Rx for you anymore.
The North Carolina Court of Appeals has held that "In contested Workers' Compensation cases today, access to competent legal counsel is a virtual necessity." Church v. Baxter Travenol Labs, Inc., and American Motorists Insurance Company, 104 N.C. App. 411, 416 (1991).

Hopefully that will work, sometimes it dors not. My surgeon will not write me anymore rx for pain meds. Referred me to comprehensive pain management facility, who will not take me as patient until my carpal tunnel is corrected. Had cervical fusion and also treated for hernted lumbar disc. Pain management
says they will take me on approx. 6 weeks after both my hands are surgiclly repaired. IC has had two hand specialist stating I need the surgery and still I sit and wait, with the specter of no where to get pain medicine. Any suggestions, family doctor will not prescribe percocet despite all my injuries.

Want to apologize for previous entry, should have responded to your thread and then started a new thread. Was having a horrible night, and could not even spell my words correctly.
