Default How Does a Specific Upper Extremity Rating Convert to Whole Body Rating

My doctor gave me a PPI rating of 10% for upper extremity (above the elbow) after having shoulder surgery. How would this convert to a whole body rating?

You'd have to use the state adopted rating guides... PD ratings are very complex issues... talk to your Dr. Get the rating calculated.
Have you had your first hearing before the First Hearing Judge?

Have you consulted with an attorney... ? Even the state comp board recommends IW's have legal representation.

Indiana use the AMA 6th edition rating guide.
ask your doctor or atty to look it up in their copy.
it is not available on line.
you can also try a local medical library.

I was just determined to have met mmi today and released back to work without restrictions. My doctor told me and my nurse case manager that my ppi rating was 10% for above the elbow, but was not specific on what the whole body rating was. My claims adjustor said that she would have to get the whole body rating in order to determine what my monetary amount would be. I have not contacted any lawyers at this point. I am just beginning this process and was wondering if there was a simple way to calculate what the whole body % would be.

in my opinion the simplest way is to look it up in the AMA Guideline manual.
the instructions for upper extremity rating in the 5th edition is 90 pages long and 10% converts to 6% Whole body.
I have no idea what the conversion factor is for the 6th edition.
there is no calculation given; table only.
you could contact the AMA if you want the formula.
