    Default IME by Pain Psychologist

I have been ordered by my administrative judge to have an IME performed by a pain psychologist. This doctor was not the choice of the defense or my attorney, but by the judge. What is the significance of that? The judge's explanation for the selection of that doctor was because, my orthospine recommended treatment with this doctor. Now it appears to me because it is an IME, I will not be receiving treatment. I will be receiving an evaluation only. He did order the defense to pay for this doctor. What I have read about IME's is alarming, but are requested by the defense. Anyone with any similar experiences or insight please enlighten me.

it means this judge believes this doctor delivers very credible/persuasive evidence.

That's right, evaluation only, there is no Dr/patient relationship here.
Apparently the defense is objecting to the referral/treatment, the judge wants to know why and what the medical necessity is before making a decision.

IME doesn't always mean an unfavorable report/opinion.
