Default Worker's Comp Wants a Medical Release Form

I received a letter today from a lawyer requesting I sign a medical release form. I have not heard from wc for over a month since my doctor basically said I will not be able to work due to my shoulder injury I have had 3 surgery's without success my doctor stopped my therapy and told me to see him in 3 months. On the letter it says my name v the company whom I had worked for....should I be contacting the Maine wc board and a lawyer?

    Default Re: Letter from Lawyer

Did the letter come from a lawyer representing the employer and insurance carrier? Does the medical release waive your rights with regard to the doctor-patient privilege, or allow the employer or insurance reps to contact your doctor directly via phone or a visit?

You need to talk to a local workers' comp lawyer who is experienced with claimant's cases. You need legal advice and the state board cannot give you any.
The North Carolina Court of Appeals has held that "In contested Workers' Compensation cases today, access to competent legal counsel is a virtual necessity." Church v. Baxter Travenol Labs, Inc., and American Motorists Insurance Company, 104 N.C. App. 411, 416 (1991).
