Default What to Expect with an FCE Exam

    Injury was in IA

Over a year ago I suffered a shoulder injury at work, I've been to the following:

    10 Doctors, surgeons, PTs, etc.

After my last appointment where I was told that the doctors prefer the good patients who don't question what they tell people to do, along with being told it's not going to get better and that I was basically at MMI. I was referred to see an Occupational Therapist, then and got notification before I see them they have scheduled a JCE exam. What can one expect at the JCE test? Some of what I've seen sounds like it could cause more issues.

An FCE is a tool your doctor uses to determine your physical limitations, it helps him determine your restrictions.

They will put you through a series of physical tasks like climbing stairs, arranging Lego blocks or sweeping the floor.
Don't refuse to try any of the tasks, always make an honest attempt then quit if you're in too much pain, explain why you had to stop to the therapist.
Go there and do your best, don't exaggerate your condition and be honest, the therapist will see through any deceptions so don't try it.
