    Hi,

My lawyer will charge 20% of the entire settlement. He will take it out of the indemnity portion of my funds. Seems steep to me! I wonder if medical can be left open and if I would be able to get one later. I do not want to close medical now but do not want to deal with the IC for the rest of my life!

20% fee on the total, including the MSA. Connecticut does not typically let you leave the "medical open." Once in a blue moon.

In 2010, Medicare provided health insurance to 48 million Americans—40 million people age 65 and older and eight million younger people with disabilities. It was the primary payer for an estimated 15.3 million inpatient stays in 2011, representing 47.2 percent ($182.7 billion) of total aggregate inpatient hospital costs in the United States

    Yeh, so what's your point?
Now, post the amount Medicare received from payroll deductions, premiums and Set Asides during that same period.
If Bush and his gang of pirates didn't loot Social Security and Medicare to support their war based on lies, they'd both have a surplus.

Be it as it may, in 2014 Medicare received 599.3 billion dollars in revenue, not to mention the money saved through Set Aside accounts, there should be plenty of money to fund the program plus have a surplus.
    How Is Medicare Financed?
Medicare is funded primarily from three sources: general revenues (41%), payroll taxes (38%), and beneficiary premiums (13%) (Figure 6).

my MSA was not part of the 20% my lawyer got for the workers comp case . don't know if it's an Illinois thing. glad it went ok for me. 20% is a lot better than 33% they charge for 3rd party suits. imagine. if the lawyer just gets 1/3 of the award its a good payday for them. not bashu=ing tem at all. thewyDO earn the money they get. anyone who tries to do a w/c case w/o a lawyer is an idiot. the laws are too complicated and gonna get worse. take the check when you get it in your hand and say THANKS I did. I had pleanty of bad things to say about minie . but, its done with
