Default Workers Comp for a Spine Injury, With Two Surgeries

I was injured on the job over a year ago and suffered a ruptured disc C6-C7 with the vertebrae going into my spinal column almost paralyzing me. I had to have an ACDF and went back to work at less pay because I could no longer perform the same duties as before. Within 8 months the ACDF did not take properly so a 2nd surgery, posterior fusion of C6-C7 was performed. Workers Comp has already told me that I don't need an attorney because they have a settlement figured out for me and an attorney will only take money. I smell BS.
I was out of work a total of 8 months and I will be on permanent restrictions, of course, and I go back to doctor next month for rating. Doctor was guessing 15% or greater impairment.
What kind of settlement am I looking at?

    I did.

Learned lots of interesting stuff as well. Looks like this will get interesting with my WC dept really fast.
