Default When Should You Get a WC Attorney

I have a Pilon fracture and developed compartment syndrome back in July 2015 in CO. Applied for ssdi and got denied, so got a lawyer for that and currently in the appeals process. My WCI has actually been great so far. They have approved every medical treatment and never missed my TTD payments. We relocated back to AZ in Nov. In which they helped me get a new Orthopedic surgeon. After find out that my screws had broken holding my plates together my OS had a CT scan done showing that I have 85% to 90% non union and mal union on my tibia. Had surgery yesterday to remove current hardware and will be having another surgery in a couple weeks to get a bone graph and new hardware. OS wants to do a total ankle replacement at the same time. Just not sure if WCI will approve the TAR over a fusion. Should I wait to see if they deny it, or get a lawyer just in case. Also since my injury occurred in CO do I need to get an attorney in CO even though I reside in AZ.

you have an attorney for ssdi why not w/c? imo anytiome youre have to go under the knife, its best you lawyer up. I would think the state of accident is where you need to get one. w/c is know to butter you up for awhile then WHAM to door goes shut. no return phone calls etc. if you have a nurse case manager. be very careful with her. shie is NOOT your friend. behind your bck she most likely is trying to get top the attending doctors. get a lawyer SOONER THAN LATER

Thanks for the response, I guess I never really thought about getting a WC lawyer simply because everything has gone so smoothly. I was under the impression that once I lawyered up I ran the chance of my benefits being stopped, but that would only be if I sued correct? I must have been misinformed or simply misunderstood.

It is better to have a lawyer than to not have one, even if you think things are going fine. Your benefits don't stop because you get a lawyer, but having a lawyer will ensure that someone is able to assist you in fighting them if they do try to stop anything. The insurance company has lawyers, so should the iw.

they cant stop your benefits because of a lawyer. eventualy the I/c will balk at stuff.ie: stop payments to you, deny medical. imo when you file a claim, you are exercising your rights as an injured worker and not suing. there is a claim filed with the state you were injured in. I don't think its a lawsuit? to much legal mumbo jumbo for the average guy to know. that's why you pay a lawyer. love them or hate them. you need them

My lawyer has pretty saved my sanity. I don't really have the knowledge or understanding, much less the time at this point to deal with everything coming at me. He's been very on top of things and almost everything is handled through email or postal mail between us.
