    Aprec, your case is actually not particularly complicated. A good workers' comp lawyer on your side would be able to sort it out and maximize the outcome for you. A "jackleg" lawyer or an inexperienced one, may not.

    The question becomes, do you have a good work comp lawyer, and did you tell that lawyer your SSD and Medicare status prior to the settlement agreement being finalized? If so, that lawyer will know how to handle it all.
    The North Carolina Court of Appeals has held that "In contested Workers' Compensation cases today, access to competent legal counsel is a virtual necessity." Church v. Baxter Travenol Labs, Inc., and American Motorists Insurance Company, 104 N.C. App. 411, 416 (1991).
