    Default MSA Self Directed Annuity

Received an award in 2017 lump sum. My annuity paid last June. I have not treated for my covered body parts, nor have I seen a doctor, and don't expect to, and must use the money for non-related medical expenses. Funds are in a savings account. Is there a way to have Medcare release me from their obligation? I have not sent any reporting documents to medicare.

If this is a Medicare Set Aside, those funds are suppose to be in an interest bearing checking account.

Anyway, that money is yours to do as you please, that account is in your name.
Call Medicare, explain you haven't seen a doctor and have no need for future medical - If you go a year without seeing a doctor, they may send you a release stating they have no further interest in the account.
If you spend the money without a release, they will not pay for medical until your spend the entire amount of the settlement on treatment.

Did CMS approve your MSA, or not? Is your MSA on their radar screen?

Good point - if you haven't set up an MSA - do not call them!!
That's your money, do as you wish with it.
