    Default Worker's Comp Settlement

    My workers compensation claim was made in the State of: GA

    I was injured on the job 8 months ago. I fell at work at broke my hip. After surgery and rehab I'm still unable to work because my foot is numb and I have severe pain in foot and leg. My surgeon says "this happens sometimes with a spinal block". My employer has just told me if I'm not able to come in at least for part time hours, my job will be terminated.
    My concern is this: I'm 82 years old and although I'm healthy otherwise and have been very active before the fall I'm now barely able to stand/walk because of the numbness and pain. The other leg is now being affected because of the extra work it's having to do when I need to walk. I am on Worker's Comp and they are now mentioning "settlement". Are there any guidelines about what I might could receive in settlement since I'm 82 years old and at an age most people would not be working. I don't have a choice, I have to work. Husband died last year and I am in a financial bind. Will the worker's comp settlement folks look at my age and consider that when making an offer?
    I'm new here. This is my first post. Would appreciate any help.

    If the employer fails to accommodate your restrictions for any reason, you're eligible for Temporary Total Disability (TTD) Benefits until you make a full recovery or become MMI (maximum medical improvement)
    Because of the complexity of the system and the stunts the carrier and employer will deploy, you need to retain a lawyer.
    Have no further conversations with the employer, carrier or anyone until you retain legal counsel - let your lawyer handle things from there.

    Temporary Total Disability (TTD) Benefits:
    Injured Georgia workers are entitled to weekly income benefits if they have more than seven days of lost time due to an injury.
    *Compensation is 66 2/3 percent of the injured workers average weekly wage.
    *Minimum weekly payment is $50 or average wage if less.
    *Maximum weekly payment is $500
    *Maximum number of payments is 400 weeks.

    You can get a free consultation from a workers' compensation lawyer without hiring the lawyer. You should start by doing that with a couple of the better workers' comp lawyers in your area.
