Searching for Doctors

We've had a number of posts where people are searching for doctors claiming their doctor or themselves suddenly picked up and moved to another state.
Doctors don't pick up and move in a day, they have hundreds of thousands of dollars invested in their offices and practice.
If by chance they do move to another state, they follow proper protocols - they don't abandon their clients, they will have another doctor take over or give a referral.

If a claimant moves out of state, they make arrangements with their doctor and carrier - they don't just pick up and move overnight without worrying about future treatment or the next med refill.
I believe the real reason these people doctor shop is their doctor cut their pain meds, returned them to work or gave them a low rating when they're trying to inflate their claims.

This is why anyone trying to run these scams will be promptly banned, I'm not going to play your stupid games.

"Doctor shopping" can be a number of things over and above drug seeking. IF you are going to move such that you can no longer see the authorized treating doctor, you should arrange for a new authorized doctor near your new home before you move. If you are moving to a new state, don't count on getting the workers' comp insurance to approve anyone in the new state. You have the right in the US to live anywhere you want, but moving out of state can really screw up your case. It can be hard to transfer care, and you may end up having to come back to the original state for medical care in your case. If that happens, ask the insurance company to provide you with transportation and lodging expenses.

I agree, it depends on the circumstances though.

There's a legitimate way to do things - when someone tells me their doctor picked up and moved without notice or they suddenly moved across the country without notifying anyone and not worrying about where their next med refill is coming from I see a scam.
Anyone selling this bull will be promptly banned.

Now we have had legitimate cases where people are seeking a second opinion or they're not satisfied with the care they're receiving.
They're honest and come out with a credible post - in these cases we'll be more than happy to help them.
