Default How Does Workman's Comp Work

I work at a healthcare facility. While bathing my client I noticed the drain pipe under the bed wasn't right and water was covering the floor. I got the bath done with no problems but, I turned to get a towel and my right foot went out from under me and I landed hard on the floor. I saw workman's comp doctor and was assigned to light duty. I'm having trouble doing the light duty as any movement makes my back hurt. My pain level at work has been a 8. I'm told by my workman's comp caseworker that I won't get paid if I don't go to work. Okay this is where I'm confused. I'm not getting any pay from workman's comp at the moment so how can not going to work stop payments? Also, should I get a Lawyer to help me?

    Thanks K

You can't collect wage loss payments if you're working.
You have to abide by your restrictions, refusing work without a no work write up will disqualify you from wage loss payments.
Now's the time to lawyer up - you need to have your work status updated to no work.
